Mujeres que caen mal / Women who fall badly

El título de esta obra es un juego de palabras sobre caer físicamente mal y hacerse daño y «caer mal», es decir, no gustar. En general, creo que las mujeres de alrededor de mi generación, tenemos esa impronta marcada a fuego: el ser agradable, la niña buena que no hace lío, que pasa desapercibida, que no discute…Liberarte de ese mandato inconsciente lleva mucho tiempo y esfuerzo, y no siempre se consigue enteramente.

Esta obra es mi homenaje a esos esfuerzos y mi refuerzo para seguir en ese camino: conectar con lo que uno es y mostrarlo sin miedo. Cada dibujo está dibujado en soportes diferentes y a diferentes tamaños: algunos de buena calidad, otros en servilletas de papel, reflejando un abanico de mundos y formas de sentir diferentes.

Women who fall badly

The title of this work is a play on words in Spanish about falling physically bad and getting hurt and “falling bad”, that is, not being liked. In general, I think that women around my generation, we have that imprint marked by fire: being nice, the good girl who does not make a mess, who goes unnoticed, who does not argue… Freeing yourself from that unconscious mandate takes a lot of time and effort, and is not always achieved entirely.

This work is my tribute to those efforts and my reinforcement to continue on that path: to connect with what one is and show it without fear. Each drawing is drawn on different media and at different sizes: some of good quality, others on paper napkins, reflecting a range of different worlds and ways of feeling.

Durante la crianza de mi hijo, comence a hacer terapia y a darme cuenta de cual era mi rol aprendido y lo que le estaba transmitiendo. Llevamos el peso de las generaciones anteriores, que a veces es estupendo como asidero en tiempos de mucho viento y a veces, es una carga insoportable.

Esta obra habla de los prejuicios. En los tres casos, la fragmentación me ayuda a expresar el tiempo y enriquecer diferentes puntos de vista.
